Hi! I thought this thread looked lonely and at last I am brave enough to post... I have been lurking for quite a while! Not in a pervy way ;) My name is Renee, I am 27, and have been a vegetarian for almost 10 years. I am starting to make the transition to veganism - I find that the members on this forum are very inspirational. Not sure what else to say, but I look forward to participating more here in future :)

hello everyone! i'm millie and i love reading the forum and now i think this thread is a sign that i should come out of the shadows!! i've been vegan for about a year now and it was the best change i ever made. i just laugh when people ask me if i have enough energy, i have honestly never felt better. none of my friends are vegan so i would love to get to know some people who are. umm...what else is there to say? i live in brisbane and i'm at uni..doing an assignment on Buddhist environmentalism at the moment. it is really interesting and inspiring.

Thanks for the welcome everyone! cannycap - I live near Ipswich (Qld... in case there's more than one Ipswich in Australia?). My username was inspired by my Grandma who recently asked if I was still a 'vegetablearian'. Welcome fellow forum newbie Millie :)

Hello you two!! Sure is easier to say "millie" than "Vegetablearian"!! Hard to even shorten too. Might have to make it Vn! Glad both of you have decided to come out of hiding and hope you have a lot of fun here.

Feel free to call me Vn, I will remember that refers to me. In hindsight I should have made a simpler name, as even when I login I get tongue-tied typing it in!

Hey Vegetablearian (cool name by the way, though Vn does sound like a good idea), what browser are you using? I think most browsers allow you set it up so that when you go to the login screen of certain websites (like this forum) it can remember your login name and password from last time so that you don`t have to type it in every time. Firefox certainly can, but I`m pretty sure you can do it on others too. In Firefox just go to the Edit menu, then Prefences. Then click the Privacy tab up the top, then Passwords down a bit lower. Then tick "Remember Passwords". I`m using v1.5 so other versions may be a bit different. But all browsers and version should have a similar process to enable it, if they have the function available. Good luck. And welcome to you too, alforda.

Thanks for the tip AussieDingo.. I use internet explorer though and can't find a function like that. Interesting to know you can do that on some browsers though.

vegout.."welcome all, Vegetablearian is easy in comparison with alforda9111990! " There must be something in that name! Perhaps 'a' for Amanda , 'l' for a middle name, 'forda' a surname? Her mum dialled 911 for an ambulance in 1990 when she was born? or she was born on 9th November 1990?

Hi everyone, thanks for paving the way vegetablearian... I have been vegetarian for just over 6 months. I read a couple of Peter Singer's books 'How are we to live' and 'The ethics of what we eat' and my eyes were opened. I always thought about vegetarianism and when I was a teenager I dipped in and out of it, but now that my decision is more well informed I think it'll be lasting. Although it wasn't pleasant reading I can now have a solid basis to go by. So far, so good I've found some good recipes and have built up quite a repetior of dinners. Its not difficult being vegetarian and the health benefits are awesome! Since joining, I have posted a few replies and everyone has been welcoming which is much appreciated. No doubt I'll keep putting my two cents in here and there.

Hi to all you newbies (waves). Wow, there's more here than I though, somehow missed this thread entirely (that'll teach me to read posts, watch tv and run off to do housework at the same time-lol). Great to have you all here :D

Hello Alforda, I have sent you a PM explaining that according to the forum rules, which you must have missed somehow when you signed on, you must be 18 before you may participate. You can, of course, still read the forum, and if there is anyway at all that we can help you, please feel free to ring or email the office. Congratulations on changing to vegetarian and I hope it becomes a lifelong commitment. Hopefully we shall see you back in a couple of years.

thanks guys for the lovely welcome. and thanks cc for starting this thread, sometimes i need a gentle nudge. just wanted to say that I am really happy that a forum like this exists. sometimes you can feel really lonely in the world when it seems like everyone is blind to the suffering they are allowing to happen. to have a supporting community just a click away is really comforting.
