Hello all,
Yep I too am new to the Veg Society.  I am truley am newby only just becoming veg (2 months) for numerous reasons and I am loving the benfits.

Was googling & found this site, which looks great for all the learning I'm in for!

Im 25 (almost typed 23!!) living in canberra till Nov when I move to Brisbane... Loving the sunshine state!

The only trouble I am having is finding cruelty free cleaning products, can anyone please tell me where I could find such things?

Thanks & I look forward to reading up on past conversations!

Sonja, Hello and welcome to the forum, great to have you join us. The products I use are ..Earth Choice, they have a detergent, floor and surface cleaner and a laundry liquid plus fabric softener...all vegan and Enviro friendly..as for the toilet bowl well good old white vinegar and for those nasty stains..well just use a half flush and sprinke Bi carb of soda and leave for 30mins..then just scrub and rinse..Dead Easy...Oh the Earth Choice is sooo cheap approx $2.00 bottle, and IT WORKS..Hope to meet you at one of the society dinners when you move to Brisbane.Cheers Kevin.

Hi :) I've been lurking here for a month or so, posting sporadically, learning bucketloads and discovering that I am not alone! I also thought that I should stop being rude and introduce myself!

I'm Celeste :) I'm 26 and I've been completely vegetarian for about 3 weeks now (apart from the occassional mishap!), although I kinda unintentionally weaned myself off meat over the month or so before that. I've been having an amazing time trying new foods (fake meats are among the more interesting lol) and I haven't felt better in a long, long time. I have more energy, more interest in life and am generally feeling lighter (both physically and mentally).

Oh and I am a music teacher :)

Hi, I'm Lisa and joined the forum 4 weeks ago.  I've been loving the forum and the great help and advice.  I didn't get on last week and as some of you know I caved in and ate some really horrible stuff!  So, I'll make sure I don't skip anymore.

I've already organised to meet up with some of you and did meet up with another lovely person just over a week ago for a cuppa up here in Ipswich (just West of Brisbane).  I'm originally from the Western Suburbs of Brisbane but moved here 5 yrs ago.  Miss all the shops around Sherwood though! We don't even have a decent Fruit & Veg shop up here!  And now miss it more then ever after finding this forum!!!!!  Can't wait to get to one of the dinners!

Hi everyone. I just found this forum and joined up so I can learn more from others about living a vegetarian lifestyle.

I am in my 30s and I have been 'wanting' to be a vegetarian for a long, long time. But its hard when I was raised an omnivore and my hubby has no desire to be vegetarian.

Its been a long, slow process but I think I am finally at that magical point where I no longer want to eat meat and actually find it revolting (Yay!)

My reasons for being a vegetarian are pretty much the same as most, I guess - personal health, animal health and Earth health.

I look forward to learning and sharing with you all

Hi everyone, I'm Saam - female, not male as everyone seems to think when they see Saam.

I'm 18 and I've been vegetarian for about a year and a half now, and a vegan for about six months.

I live in Brisbane, and am working as a secretary at the moment.

Not sure what else to say!

Hi, I am new!
I'm a vegetarian/tryhard vegan living on the Gold Coast and excited to find like minded people! I changed my eating habits after reading "Skinny Bitch", the book totally changed my life. I can't pretend I follow everything it says to a T, but it certainly opened my eyes to many truths which I previously didn't feel applied to me, or didn't want to see. Anyone else read it or have any comments?

This year will be my first Christmas as a veg*n, and I'm a little nervous about it because I'm going home to be with my family and it will break my Dad's heart that I won't be willing to eat Christmas ham and eggs with him at breakfast. But the idea of it now, I'm like EW! Anyone else find it funny the people that don't get that we literally don't WANT to eat meat? So many people think it's some schizo diet and think it's funny to wave salami in your face and go "mmmm don't you want it?" It's like, no, it's not deprivation, it's a choice!

haha ok enough. I'm a chatty girl yes :)

haha julia i totally know what you mean- people think veganism is some sort of crippling disorder! one of the people i work with, after i  told him i was vegan, he said 'poor you!' ?!?!?! crazy. but then again he is a chef, and alot of hospitality people have difficulty grasping the concept of a diet without meat.....

Welcome Julia,

I think 99% of us understand where you're coming from with that one. Especially myself going Vegan as a teenager and my parents doing all they possibly can to try and get me to go back to Omni!

Hello!

My name is Mario and I recently joined the Vegetarian and Vegan Society of Queensland even though I live in Perth. Dark Horse was so kind that I couldn't help but join.

I'm doing my very best to be vegan and I'd say I'm 95% there. Unfortunately, I occasionally eat chocolate and egg but it's something I *will* give up in the near future.

Although I've only joined today, I've been a lurker on this forum for the past couple of months. I enjoyed reading the election thread and other controversial topics.

Nez, a big welcome to the forum and I hope you enjoy your visits...great crew on here and very interesting topics. No need to give up chocolate, just by the Vegan brands. Some are Sweet William and Aldi sell a dark chocolate called Moser Roth also the dark Lindt are all vegan. Again welcome, Cheers Kevin.

Hello to you nez and a huge welcome.  Just as well you didn't tell them about all the threats I used to get you to join!  ;)  Glad to see you on the forum and hope you enjoy your visits here.

And hello and welcome to you too, Merely_existing.  Your name is a bit of a worry I must admit.  We'll have to get you all charged up and back on the vegan track so that you can work on getting friends and aquaintances to join you.  That will give you a reason to get up and go!!  Would you like a free Info pack?  That might help to make it a little easier for you?  If so, send your postal address to the office.  Anyway - if we can help at all, please sing out.

Hi
Feeling guilty that I have never introduced myself. My name is lynette. I live near Bathurst in NSW. I run both Primates for Primates and Wild Cats Plus.
I typed in my name wrongly when signing up. It should be ailurophile with an R. It means cat lover just as an ailurophobic is a cat hater. I attract cats.
About 4 weeks ago a horse in the paddock next to me gave birth to a beautiful foal. I now watch mother and baby play as I sit at the computer.

Ah, well hello everyone. My real name is Jane and I am a vegan, It's very nice to be reminded that there are actually other vegans out there besides my boyfriend and our mate Zano. It's a lonely life... I became vegan in 1994 (I think, it's been a while) with a little 2 year lapse when I went backpacking in 2000, which is a bit embarrassing. Some parts of Europe are not very vegan friendly. I am 30 and loving it. I finally watched "Earthlings" yesterday and I still feel sick. Lunchtime at work will be a challenge today. Oh yeah, and I live at the Sunny Coast, anyone else?
