Hi everyone! Just signed up and thought I'd introduce myself. I'm 28, was a vegetarian for 8 years and just recently made the switch to vegan (about 2 months ago).

Last few years have consisted of predominantly vegan products (vege hot dogs, soy milk, nuttalex e.t.c) with my main weakness being cheese. After watching "Earthlings" and stumbling across www.meat.org a short while back, suddenly cheese didn't seem so important anymore.

Happy to say that I have never been healthier, stronger and more energetic living off a plant based diet and exercising regularly!

Oh and I live in up in the Gold Coast hinterlands on acreage with my 3 dogs, 2 cats, 7 rats, and 4 mice :) It's one big happy family up here. (All my furry friends were either homeless or rescued from sh*tty conditions as well)

Hi there! I’m a 26yr old Brissy girl from the inner northern suburbs. I’ve been a strict veggie for 12 years and am looking to get myself organised in the kitchen and finally attain vegan status :)

I may have caught up with a few of you at the recent veg society get togethers. It’s been fabulous checking out a few of the vego restaurants around town. Unfortunately my partner is my absolute opposite in the way of diet (a total carnivore and a sausage-eating Polish one at that!) as are almost all of my friends, so it’s been great to FINALLY find people out there…. just like me. What has most impressed me is the number of older members…. what an inspiring bunch of people.

I share my home with two spoilt dogs... a rottie and a maremma x. Does anyone ever organise outside get togethers or picnics, so we can bring our furry babies along too?

Hi veggievore! I'm 26 too and live on the south side. I think so much of people that are so easy going with their partners and friends, it takes a lot of strength to be different, and it is very cool.

We will have a site at the Million Paws Walk in May selling veg burgers, so you could bring your furry friends along then! You could also have one of our burgers that we make with lots of love :P

It is really nice to meet other people that are like minded, it's all a lot of fun.

If you are thinking of going vegan I really suggest some particular cook books that I feel have proven to be the best...i.e. La Dolce Vegan, and other publications by Sarah Kramer and Isa Chandra.

See you some time soon.

Hi everyone,

My name is Libby and I am newly vegan.  This looks like a great forum, some google searches have led me here in the past and I have finally joined.

I recently watched 'Meet your meat' and it is the most shocking thing I have ever seen.  I think everyone should watch it.

I have heaps of questions, but I might ask one at a time so you don't get sick of me!

Hi Libby, and welcome to the forum. When you have questions, try the search function on the top right hand corner, as you will find many things have been discussed at length! of course, if you have further comments or observations or questions, feel free to drag an old thread out of the archives and make it active again. Cheers :)

Thanks guys...

Vegree... I know those books well! Everything i cook is vegan... but I do a lot of work out west and up north.... and find it SO hard not to starve. On one week long trip I survived on hot chips, side salads and softdrink! It's a terrible excuse. I just need to get organised and take more food with me in case i need to skip meals on the road.... and perhaps buy one of those fridges that plugs into the car to transport it all :)

I would love to help out at the Million Paws Walk if you need any extras to flip some burgers.....

Hello theres:-

I've lurked here a couple of times, so high time I crawl from my rock and register. The discussions here are quite interesting ;-)

So, I'm male, 29, and live on the Gold Coast. Been a vege for about 3 years, before that I was on and off for a couple of years then someone smartened me up.

I only have net access at work at present, but that's gunna change soon :-) My social life might improve too, hahaha...

I think 'table* would be a good abbreviation for Vegetablearian if Vn don't sit well.

Hey veggievore, I'm sure you would be welcomed with open arms at the Million Paws Walk as it can get really busy. Give DH a call on the VVSQ office number and she has the details...times etc.

It isn't an excuse, I think it is really hard on people that travel...it takes longer to figure out ways of eating. I haven't been vegan long at all and I'm still forgetting that I can't just grab something to eat like everyone else does...so I end up going out for the day without anything to eat and getting really cranky that I didn't think ahead. I usually end up with a fresh juice but that can make me feel even more hungry ah!

Welcome to you too Common Worm : )

Hi everyone,
Wellllll I'm new (obviously). I've been vegetarian for around three years now and have finally decided to take the jump and go vegan. It's been a week and I'm feeling great... found a whole heap of vegan chocolate so I'm set!
Made my first vegan cake today (I am have obsessive baking disorder) and loved it. Couldn't even tell it was vegan. Neither could my anti-vegan friends (ha!).
Anyway, looking forward to talking to all of you! :)

" (I am have obsessive baking disorder) "

And I also apparently have a problem with structuring sentences correctly.

Lol Bree, I didn't even notice your mistake.  You can edit your post (hopefully before anyone notices) within a certain period of time - not sure how long it is now.

Welcome to the forum anyway :)

Also a belated welcome to: Common worm, veggievore, megsnotdead, libby, fenrir and corella. Nice to have so many new "faces" around :)
