Hello all:)

My name is Michael, I am 25 and I am interested in making a change and becoming a vegan. I live on the Gold Coast in Queensland.

I am new to this and I am just trying to get more information towards making the change to becoming a vegan.

I like to keep fit and go to the gym. I want a well balanced vegan diet that will still give me all the nutrition I need to continue keeping fit and building muscle.

Hope to meet new people and get all the help and information I need towards my change to becoming a vegan.

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Michael

Thanks Dark Horse and kevin carr.

I've sent an email with my address.
Can't wait to start the new change. So many things to consider and figure out.

I'm guessing the hardest part would be trying to find a well balanced diet but I'm looking forward to the challenge:)

Hi all !

I'm looking forward to delving into all the info here, just wanted to say the site looks great, supportive and friendly- I have a lot to learn and think about.

If you told me a year ago that I would become a vegetarian much less a vegan, it would have knocked me down with laughter,

I feel like a sneaky Vegan right now, I've not announced this decision to my family, who will no doubt roll their eyes. Also they ate fake sausage last night in their pasta and didnt know it... Ha Ha

Lara Marin Blackhear Welcome to the forum and glad you decided to join in.

Alot of folks visit the site each day and after a month or two decide to Come On In and say Hi.

You would have seen that the Society does have a free Info Pack and I would suggest that you send your postal details to the office and get ready for some fantastic reading.

The recipes section on the forum is also a great way to get new ideas and if you got away with the fake sausages well do know's what's on their menu next..Veggie Lasagne ??

Again welcome.
Cheers Kevin.

Hey Mike great to see another bloke into fitness and muscle building on here! Vegan male + gym is apparently a rare breed haha

Where abouts do you train and have you been training long? I was vegetarian for 8 years and have been vegan for over 2 years now and i'm at my strongest point ever in life...definitely plenty of good complete protein sources as a vegan and energy should never be an issue either.

Just hit me up on the forum if you need any info to help your transition to veganism, you'll never look back and it's far more rewarding making muscle/strength gains as a vegan and sticking it to the stereotype ;)

Hi Guys - My name is Rae, I am 26 and I have been vegetarian for 4 years, vegan for just over a  month. I always avoided products tested on animals and it just kind of evolved from there the more I educated myself. I enjoy reading forums but have never been actively involved in one - thought I would give it a go :)
i have a 7 year old son who is "vegan at home - lacto-vegetarian when out" and my partner is "vegan at home -  omnivore when out" and is  working 3000kms away for the next six months:(
Hoping to chat to some like minded people and get some inspiration for new ideas :)

lol Lara I have been doing the same things to my family for years! My son was drinking soymilk for MONTHS and had no idea. The Vitasoy So Milky is great - not "powdery" at all.

Welcome to the new guys.

If you ever need to talk to someone or ask any questions, i'm more than happy to help.

Being vegan isn't difficult, it's just tricky adjusting to a new way of doing things until you get the hang of it.

It's well worth it - i've never, ever felt better or been healthier.

Thanks, I appreciate it... It's funny I thought it would be harder than it has been - it's only early days I know, but being vegetarian for a few years was a good warm up:)

rae_therese welcome to the forum.

That's great to read that you have been Vegan for a month and I'm positive you won't regret a single day of it.

Your family sounds like one who does some thinking and research and has already been made aware of the Cruelty that is perpetrated on Animals daily.

There are others on the forum with children around the same age as yours who I'm sure will be more than willing to pass on their advice.

If you would like an Information Pack that the Society has freely available and comes highly recommended please forward your postal details to the office.

Again welcome.
Cheers Kevin.

Hi all, thanks for the welcome !
no, I'm such a newbie at this it is ridiculous, but I know that we all start somewhere. Thanks for your suggestions- will check those out.

I started this path as a protest against cruelty, thinking that it was ok to eat free range or pasture finished as we call it here, but of course as I learned more it is not ok for me, and I've totally lost the taste for all flesh and dairy.

Cheese. still looking for that substitute, but I've just begun !

Hi,
I am from Perth in the Swan Valley. I was told about this forum when I went to Sydney and was having lunch at Iku by a lovely lady who had a badge that said kiss me I am Vegan. She gave me her email address but I have lost it.
I have been Vegan for about 12 years and I am trying to be as environmental as I can. I did a search of Perth on this forum and have found a wealth of information on shops that supply products that I didn't know were available here. I didn't even know a couple of the shops and restaurants exsisted. I went to one the other day and was like a child in a candy store.
Thanks this is a great forum and site.

Hi to all the resident members and newbies like myself. My name is Kerrie, Kezz for short, and I live in Hervey Bay. I was a vegetarian for a couple of years, had a relapse out of laziness, and then switched back to a full vegan diet after watching my beloved doggie die at the vet. She was old (21), and it was something that had to happen, but it was so devastating to do it that after that I knew I could never be responsible for hurting another animal again. My other half is a vegan also, and equally as passionate as I am. We have one fur kid, Storm, an 11 year old Border Collie who is the most beautiful creature I've ever laid my eyes on.

Happy to be here, and thanks for making this place available!
