Hi Bree and welcome. I like your comment about the cake was nice and you couldnt tell it was vegan. I think thats the way to tell that it IS vegan....is that it tastes great, and better still, cruelty free. Hope you stick around, there are plenty of cooking tips here, as well as lots of other things that Im sure you will have fun with.

Thanks guys! Oh yeah, should mention I'm in the Sutherland Shire, Sydney.. near Cronulla.. where the riots were *shifts uncomfortably*. It's a pretty conservative area and I know of approximately 0 vegans, and only a handful of vegetarians.

Hi guys & girls! I have been reading the threads on this forum for over a year but never really had the guts to post an introduction of myself. I'm a 24yr old girl from the mid north coast of nsw, and I'm a vegetarian who has no-one in my circle of friends who can relate to my beliefs and life choices. I need this forum to remind me I'm not on my own, and I am so grateful for it.

The more the merrier! Sometimes things can read a bit heavy here on the "serious" convos, but I have to say, I am impressed by everyones ability to stay civil and stick to the issues at the moment (rather than diss the person). There are so many issues that veg*ns need to discuss in a safe environment. It can only make us all stronger in the long run and able to help the suffering animals as much as we can. United we stand. Strength is found in numbers, and solidarity is our goal. :)

hello :) I'm from Newcastle, NSW...my name is Bethany but I see you've already got a bethany! I'm 30 years old and I've been vegan for 9 months. I'm a wannabe artist, work part-time and live with my hubby and our dog Rosie, the little.black.pug. Rosie is a vegan dog also. I love music (in particular AFI and Rise Against) and love gardening, I grow veggies, I like running and go in a few half marathons and marathons every year...that's about it! I am hooked on the Post Punk Kitchen website, but was getting a bit lonely here in Newcastle, so I thought I should join some more "local" groups to hopefully meet some like-minded Australians!

Hi 108! Welcome :D I grew up in Wollongong (Kanahooka to be specific). Hoping to move my family back down there at the end of this year/start of next year. Glad you found us (you can tell me all the good veggie places to shop when I move down ;))

Hi 108! I was certainly impressed when I saw your intro. Male, 22 in Wollongong! You are a brave soul! Wobbly is not the easiest place for a vego. Nice beaches though. Good on you and nice to see you here.

a few of my best mates are vego.. m23 and m25 ..(not my doing!) so its not too bad, theres a lot of us to be found at the uni.. but sorry not much shopping variety. Have to be careful in asian shops to look closely at ingredients... if you dont know what it is.. be suspicious!

Lol, yeah, we have a few asian grocery shops too. Some of that stuff can be scary!! But some of it is awesome. I don't buy much there cause I can't eat soy and most of it has soy in it (haven't yet found one that carry's any ready made gluten). As long as there's a health food shop that has nutritional yeast and gluten flour I'll be happy enough. (I hope!!) My little brothers at Uni down there at the moment. He turned 21 last January. He's not veg though (sigh).
