Quite often when i talk to non veg. about vegetarianism they come up with.............man has canine teeth therefore meat must be part of his diet.

Also herbivorous animals have canine teeth then? The panda has got very sharp teeth, the elephant has got huge tusks, the fruit bat has got sharp teeth, the male horse has got canine teeth, so what?

On the other hand even carnivorous animals have got molar teeth behind the big canine. Does that mean that carnivorous should also eat grass?

It seem to me that teeth have little to do with diet.

What do you think?

That′s about right, people justifying their right to be boringly abnormal :-D
I cannot hack how people have to argue with you about your diet.

They are not the same as carnivore cuspids, what′s more a carnivore is more than its teeth. They have shorter intestines to digest meat and get it out quickly. Check out the posted thread Human′s natural biological diet - frugivore?...

Quote:
FrugivoreHave 32 teeth - 16 in each jaw including 4 incisors, 2 cuspids, 4 bicuspids, and 6 molars. The cuspids are adapted for cracking nuts, and the uniform articulation of the teeth enables the frugivore to mash and grind fruits.
HumansCorrespond almost identically to gorillas and other frugivores. The so-called human "canines" (the cuspids) in no way resemble the true canines of carnivores. Human cuspids are short, stout, and slightly triangular. Our teeth are not curved or sharp like those of the wolf or tiger, nor are they wide and flat like the grass and grain-eating species. Our teeth are actually like the fruit-eating primates. Our mouth is best suited for eating succulent fruits and vegetables. It would be extremely difficult, if not impossible, for us to eat raw flesh without the aid of knife and fork. However, true omnivores and carnivores can.

Hello alain - good to see you back.

I rather suspect we would need more than a knife and fork for raw flesh Duane - unless of course it was a carving knife and fork.

When a human can run down, kill and eat an animal with nothing other than his hands and teeth, then I shall believe we were meant to eat meat.  Oh, and eat it raw too!
