Maureen Collier

Maureen has worked for animal rights since 1980. She was the first to work in Animal Liberation's newly opened office in a small room above the original Squirrels in South Brisbane. She retired from Animal Liberation in mid 1993 and was then asked to work for the Australian Vegetarian Society Qld (now The Vegetarian/Vegan Society of Qld Inc) from her home. This she did in October 1993, feeling that she could be more effective in convincing people to stop eating, using and abusing animals through this Society.

The job as secretary/treasurer has proved to be an ongoing commitment, and she has moved the office from two small rooms upstairs to two much larger rooms downstairs. The office, shop and lending library operate from there. Apart from the benefits of more room in which to work, it also offers a modicum of privacy.

She lives with her long suffering husband, 3 dogs and 4 cats and is due for a looooong holiday!
