This book is excellent. As previous reviewers have said, serious thought to your diet and consequential health is required if you continue to eat meat and dairy, knowing the results of these very in-depth, long-term studies.
On top of this dietary concern and evidence, the information regarding "cover-ups" and "intimidation tactics" used by many dairy and meat lobby groups, means it makes for very interesting reading.
I bought both lots of parents this book for Christmas, along with a vegan cookbook. As we are newbie vegan''s I have not entered into much discussion with them regarding our choice, simply saying lets talk after you read this book.
As a reviewer on the back of the book says, "I purchase this book for all those that I love". After reading it I think you will no doubt feel the same way.
It can be a tad heavy at times, but you need the evidence in plain and simple terms before you can get to the plain and simple facts supplied in full detail, and to learn the consequences of your choices. It''s a powerful book.
I''m not what you would call an "avid" reader by any means, but this book held my attention right the way through.

Highly recommended. Lay-man friendly writing and convincing thoroughly supported science - anyone who reads this book and goes on eating animal proteins needs to seriously rethink their commitment to their health - and the health of the planet. Its a life-changer!

My partner is reading this, and as a devout "I''ll never be vegan" person... I notice he is now drinking soy milk... for that alone, this book gets 5 stars :)

This book focusses on the health benefits of a vegan diet based on years of research by an "in-the-system" scientist. It also gives an insider''s view of why mainstream medecine and government bodies do not promote a vegan diet - quite the opposite. Anyone who values their health and is not eating a vegan diet may find their motivation here.

This book deserves far more attention than it has received so far because it deals with very thorough science and painstaking investigation. The very opposite of the fad diet books which tend to flood our market these days. Highly recommended!
